A Millon Things (Pt. 1)
Hello all.
I had initially titled this bit "A thousand things"...but after the brief but inspiring walk from downtown to here, I decided a thousand wasn't nearly enough.
Red X's on a doomed tree, beautifully flat toasters, girls singing the latest pop hit from the cab of a mid-90's Dodge truck, leaves crunching underfoot, and distant random yelps from house parties echoed through my head on the way back home. Endless swirls of frenzied thoughts cycled through my drunken cranium. I can only hope to remember half of them.
Tonight, my lovely and beautiful fiancee is out of town for a roller derby bout, for which she is a referee. Whenever she is away, I remember why I started my DrunkAgain blog...
I remember a few years back when I was terminally single. Shortly before I met my lady, I was just about done with women altogether, content with the ongoing but altogether unsatisfying relationship between me and internet porn (I'm still a fan.) Towards the end of my singleness, I regarded pretty much any social interaction with the opposite sex to be none other than a social experiment. I would get rip-roaring drunk, go to a bar and get more drunk, and say or do outlandish things just to note the reaction of the befuddled female at hand. If, on the rare occasion said female wasn't completely offended or annoyed...then she might be the one for me, right? In essence, I guess, I was just being an exaggerated version of myself. Most of the time, I'd get home comfortably alone with a head full of swirling thoughts, and to my trusty computer waiting for me.
If anything, the "experiment" proved that females, on average, were attracted to assholes. (Does this surprise anyone? Huh?) Furthermore, My fiancee was actually lured in by my asshole-ness, through a once-popular online social site. (She is free to dispute that fact.)

What the fuck's up, everbody!?
It's time for a (Possibly short-lived) Drunk Again resurrection. Last week a bug must have flew up my ass and I decided to try workin' on this site again.
As if I didn't have enough to do already.
If you have navigated here directly, you might not have noticed that this blog is now but a part of DrunkAgain.com. So go back to the main page and kill some time at the forums.
Some highlights of my life as of late:
Roller Derby. My lady and a group of her hot friends are busy beating the crap out of thier rivals, (and each other) on skates. Check 'em out.
A second job. The company I work for got bought out and I am the HNIC now, so it's cake. But, I'm still short of cash, so I got a second job taking care of the games at a small FEC (fun and entertainment center.)
My lack of cash might be attributed to my new VW. At the beginning of the year I spent a crapload of money on something I've always wanted: A VW single cab pickup. A '62, to be exact, and it has been an absolute blast. I have a long, expensive road ahead of me on this project.
These things plus an obsession with the interwebs keep my social awkwardness fully intact. So browse around, sign up for the forums, and savor the fruits of my unhealthy obsessions.
Later for now.

$$$$$$$$$$!!!!!!!!!!
Welp, as most of you who visit the site can plainly see, I don't do crap around here anymore. I'm currently thinking about putting up the domain up for sale - if you are interested, you might send me one of those e-mail message thingys.

Currently, I can be found at www.myspace.com/thinline
OR: www.myspace.com/CoinOpKing

Don't worry, I haven't changed my drinking ways.

Well..ol' Garner is moving out of his apartment w/garage into domestic bliss at the end of July.
That means I'll have to move the Hondas back to my house and throw 'em under a tarp somewhere. And one of these days I'll get around to calling whatsisname and giving him his now-working gold Honda.
I finally got my 500 inspected and licensed. I have been able to get a few short rides in around town, but have been busy with camping and drinking and rockin', so no long-distance rides yet. I also have to buy another helmet so's the ol' lady can ride. It was cool, though - I bought a new battery, threw it in, and a few cranks later the damn thing was running great. Even with year-old gas in it.
As far as the jobby-job goes, my current one is getting more ridiculous every day. My last paycheck bounced. It ended up costing me around $55 in fees by the time I finally noticed. I should keep better track of my account, I guess, but who expects their paycheck to bounce!? I have applied and got all my paperwork to the Electrician's Union, including birth certificate, high school transcripts, etc...the aptitude test is sometime after the July 4th weekend. I have been trying to brush up on some Algebra in the meantime, and it seems like it's coming back to me fairly easily. I'm crossing my fingers, but I might be out of a job way before I even know how this apprenticeship thing will turn out. I'll definately miss certain aspects of my current job, but...oh well, onward and upward!

Thanks Nate, even though you have not returned my messages about this weekend. We must party!
So....I have an offer (EDIT: application.) from the local Columbia Tribune for starting around 10/hr., but the apprenticeship program finds you a job starting around 13.50 + benefits. I'm going for that.
I hope I can work around C-town if I can get accepted.
The bikes! I got insurance+a battery for the ol' 500. Hopefully I'll be able to get it inspected and licensed soon. Then I can kill myself on a night such as this, when I'm hellishly drunk and want to go for a ride.
Boo ya!

Yeah, well, it's been a few months and the hondas are still in the gay-rage. I'm old and lazy. Not that I haven't been busy on other projects...just your general stuff around the house. It's definitely time to get O.G. Honda out, get 'er batteried up, inspected, insured, licensed. It's just such a pain in the ass. Not to mention the expense. Got to get the insurance first, it'll be around $100 for six months. Then a battery...that'll be $20-$30. Tags, $20. Missouri inspection (a racket), $12, if there's nothing "wrong". I guess that's not a whole lot of money to some, but I'm pathetically poor. I can think of 100 other things (less life-threatening) that I could spend a couple of hundred bucks on.
Oh, and I guess, after 3 or 4 years of riding, I'd better actually get a motorcycle license. That involves taking a test for a permit (waiting in line, etc), which is good for 6 months, and in that time you have to take a test that involves riding around a course. I'm sure it'll be cake; I can handle my cycle just fine. And I've taken the permit test before, and scored 100%. Again, it's just a hassle.
And I'm job hunting. The job I have now is a joke. I'll surely miss certain aspects of it when I quit, but my current goal is to score an electrician's apprenticeship. I'm not ever sure how the app. thing works, but I'm good with all sorts of electronics - I have been since I was about 8. I've just never had the certification. So if I can get a good paying apprenticeship, (anything over $10 and hour would be an upgrade) I should be good to go - electricians get paid good. And there's a lot of work in Columbia, and probably other places as well. Benefits would also be nice - I'm gettin' old, and the prospect of some health coverage would be great.
Well, that's some boring shit, eh? Not that anyone reads this here blog anyway....

Howdy folks,
It's now basically a waiting game with the Hondas...I'm waiting for me to get more money. It turns out, after having honed the bad cylinder, (Along with having spent $75 on a goddamed hone,) I'll have to go ahead and have the cylinders bored out thirty thousanths. The pitting is just too bad, so someday I'll find out if I can get oversize pistons and just how much they'll cost. I'm guessing alot.
In the meantime, I've got plenty o' other projects to work on, i.e. my kitchen sink drain that disintigrated tonight. I went and got a drain and trap kit, but after tearing into it, I found out that the previous owners used two different sizes of pipe. Crap.
I've also got my PVC drum kit project going. That involves making a whole drum/pad kit out of PVC tubing and triggering the pads with my newly acquired Alesis DM-5 drum module. I'm almost done with that, the only hurdle being finding something to cover the plywood pads with. I want a rubber surface, but who sells rubber by the sheet?
I also have a few house projects going, like building a walkway between my front sidewalk and driveway out of pool table slate, putting in a new floor joist (see w/d hookup post below) , jacking up the floor in a few places, finishing the electical in the attic, painting and re-installing the front railing, adding step off the back deck, smoke detectors.....
So yeah, I've plenty to do.
In the meantime, check out this guy's project: Building a water cooling system for his computer, completely from scratch.
