New projects....
In the past I restored a '73 Honda 500 Four cylinder, which now is my main cycle. In the future I think I'll turn it into a bobber since nothing on it is really original anyway. We'll see.
These two Hondas here are '72 350 twins. The deal is that I have to get the gold one rideable for the owner, and I can have the other one plus an old Yamaha 350 twin for free in exchange. Not a bad deal! I haven't dug the Yamaha out of the barn yet.
It's freakin' cold out, and I dont' have much of a workspace. I'm considering taking the handlebars off and trying to get them down my basement steps. Anyone who has seen my basement access knows that is a dicey proposition, but it'd be better than working outside.
So far, I've only looked in the gold one's tank, and took off a float bowl to see how crappy they are. Surprisingly, the tank and bowl both look clean. It looks like it was actually stored properly. It kicks over and has good compression. It might just need a battery, some cables, tires, some brake adjustment, chain lube, and a good cleanin'.
The purple one didn't fare so well. The engine seems locked, although it has oil and looks spotless inside the case. The inside of the tank looks horrible. I'm sure the entire fuel system is full of lacquer and rust. My 500 was just like this, and it has 4 carbs - that was fun. What else? uh, the plastic tube for the throttle grip is disintegrated, and it's missing some misc. bolts and stuff that I'm sure are on the gold one already. The starter is in a box. I did get a crapload of spare parts, though.
That's all the further I've gotten on that one, and I think it's going to go under a tarp for the winter while I work on the gold one.
Anyway, I'll keep you posted on the progress.

Yo! Have you ever ran into the guys at the Axle Shop, next door to Mr. Tranny? They do a lot of work on bikes and may be able to come up with odd parts here and there. I don't really know anything about the cycle scene in Columbia. I owned a 1982 Honda Enduro 250 just long enough to break my collar bone into three pieces.
Hmmm, I might check them out, cause Procycle Honda is a bunch of jerks. And they're overpriced.
Thanky.
They don't really keep any inventory, they're pretty much under the table. But, they know everyone with a bike in Columbia and usually have a bunch of junk sitting around. They repair and sell bikes on consignment, too. Can never really have too many contacts.
Werd, yo.
